Originally written by Aristophanes during Greece’s Golden Age of Theatre, Lysistrata is an anti-war play also filled with ribald humor and sexual innuendo. This version, adapted, directed, and produced by James Carey, focuses more on the battle between the sexes and sexual imagery rather than the anti-war elements. Set and costumed in modern times, Lysistrata leads the women of Athens to withhold sexual favors until the warring men sign a peace treaty.
There will be special Sunday performances at 6:00 PM on July 25, 2004 and August 15, 2004.
