"The idea of a mermaid has been twisted and distorted throughout history, much like the histories of the radical women and femmes who fought for their place at the table of uprising and activism. Las Sirenas is a timely and powerful reminder that sometimes blessings come in the form of a warning, and that closure can come when we help others to heal. This isn’t just a modern fairy tale, but a beautiful representation of the power of community and the necessity to weed out the harm and traumas even in places where we should feel safe."
