About the Show
When Hélène Grimaud plays Beethoven, she “crackles with tension and spontaneity.... For those who have had the privilege of hearing her perform, Grimaud is more than a pianist; she is an alchemist of sound, transforming familiar works into something entirely new. And that, in itself, is what makes her so unique” (Gilmore International Piano Festival).
Following last summer’s well-received performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, Grimaud returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall for a solo recital. She pairs the brisk passion and syncopated rhythms of Beethoven’s final sonata with the otherworldly serenity and flickers of excitement from Schubert’s B-flat Sonata.
