Disney’s High School Musical

Tickets are now on sale for The Relevant Stage Theatre Company – Youthorizons’ production of Disney’s High School Musical. This production features students of the TRS Youthorizons Performing Arts Summer Camp. For $15, in addition to the show, adults may enjoy a wine reception prior to the production across the street from Warner Grand Theatre at Off the Vine.

When Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez sing together at a chance meeting on vacation, they have no idea they’ll see each other again, much less that they’ll go to the same school! At East High, they’re worlds apart; he’s the star of the basketball team and she’s the shy new girl on the academic decathlon team. Together, they decide to audition for the school’s winter musical, but are discouraged by friends and family to “Stick to the Status Quo.” More problems arise when the school theatre’s prima donna, Sharpay, and her lackey brother, Ryan, do everything they can think of to keep Gabriella and Troy from being cast in the lead roles! Variety says, “This stage version of the Disney Channel telefilm… outstrips its source in scope, accomplishment and artistry, while remaining true to its offhand charms.”

The Relevant Stage is a new, non-profit theatre company performing in residence at The Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, CA. The Warner Grand Theatre is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. TRS’ mission is to produce plays, musicals, operas, and mixed media productions that challenge hearts, engage minds and expose truths. TRS tells stories about the world we live in.
