Collaboratory 3: Stories of Democracy and Migration

About the Show

Collaboratory 3: Stories of Democracy and Migration showcases the results of an 8-week intensive of performance-based workshops for emerging artists of color. Led by veteran artist Dan Kwong, participants brainstormed on joint efforts, working around the themes of “democracy and migration.” What makes this performing arts initiative different is that the participants also learn tools for community leadership and grassroots activism — not too common in Los Scandalous these days.

Participants include Thenmozhi Soundararajan, Brian Molina, Juliet Wong, Kenneth McKether, Susan Kanga and Joe Padilla.

The 7:00 PM show on Saturday, October 21 is a special benefit for Great Leap. Admission for this event is a suggested donation of $50.00, which includes a VIP reception & special guest performaces by Barry Shabaka Henley, Amy Hill, Shishir Kurup, and a collaborative piece by returning members of the 1st Round of Collaboratory.

Collaboratory 3 is supported in part by Southern California Edison, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., the Los Angeles Dept. of Cultural Affairs, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and individual donors.
