Brighton Beach Scumbags

About the Show

Black Irish Productions is delighted to announce the U.S. premiere of Steven Berkoff’s Brighton Beach Scumbags directed by the award-winning theater and film director Paul Quinn. A “primitive battle cry” of suburban working-class England opens the play and sets the tone as two cockney couples embark on a day of fun at the beach. Their dreams of the past compete with the reality of the present as they encounter an interracial gay couple from London. This sets in motion a hysterically funny romp and an insightful condemnation of racism, homophobia, misogyny and willful ignorance. In Berkoff’s inimitable style, no one escapes entirely unscathed.
