Baltimore: Defining Moments That Shape our Lives

A defining moment. Something as momentous as a rape, a beating, a murder. Or as seemingly innocuous as the time your beloved first grade music teacher told you, “You’re a great kid, but you’ll never be a singer, that’s for sure!”

1. Oklahoma City. The Watts Riots. The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Moments that changed the course of history. And what are the defining moments of a single life? Are they any less significant?

Baltimore is a ShortBurst® Theatre Collaboration in which professional artists, tyro performers and members of the community have created a sometimes tantalizing, sometimes terrifying look at one particular Defining Moment, comparing a troubled Baltimore with a troubled Los Angeles, the prejudice prevalent in both, and how this one moment in time evoked the personal memories of each ensemble member and how those memories affected the course of their lives.
