All’s Well That Ends Well

About the Show

The award-winning Ark Theatre Company closes its 2004 season with an adaptation of Shakespeare’s bittersweet comedy All’s Well That Ends Well, adapted and directed by Artistic Director Paul Wagar. The play tells the story of the painful nature of love, the sadness of age, the folly of youth and the road to self-awareness.

Helena, the orphan daughter of a famous physician and now ward of the Countess of Rousillon, saves the life of the King of France using one of her father’s secret prescriptions. Her reward – the hand of any man to be her husband. She chooses Bertram, the Countess’ son. Appalled at having to marry a commoner, he declares he will never be hers until she obtains the ring he wears and is pregnant with his child, all of which is seemingly impossible, or is it?
