About This Show

Set in 1937 among New York’s theatre elite, It’s All True follows the effort of a young Orson Welles, legendary producer John Houseman and actor Howard Da Silva (among others) to mount composer Marc Blitzstein’s controversial workers’ musical The Cradle Will Rock after the government locked them out of their own theatre and the actors and musicians’ unions boycotted the production. Jason Sherman’s play features snippets of ’30s rapid-fire dialogue, caustic wit, lines and songs from Blitzstein’s musical, psychological flashbacks and rapid shifts of scene from the rehearsal theatre to the actors’ apartments, Manhattan’s 21 Club and Welles’ home in Sneden’s Landing.

There are additional performances on Wednesday, Feb 12 and March 5 at 2pm.
