Saturday Night Live meets 60 Minutes
The News in Revue, a side-splitting spoof of the people and places making the news, returns to Cranwell to celebrate the show’s fifteenth year of musical mayhem. This year’s all new show is chock full of comedy and commentary torn from the front page of the newspaper. The News in Revue promises more surprises than Jack Abramoff’s address book and more laughs than the testimony in the Enron trial and more tap dancing than a Congressional debate on the price of oil.
When Time Magazine noted that at The News in Revue, “Today’s headlines become tonight’s routines,” they weren’t just whistling Dixie. The cast of characters includes an up-to-the-minute assortment of “headliners.” From an embattled Rumsfeld to a newly celebrated Judas, from the Bush Family to Brad and Angelina’s family, The News in Revue is on the job, producing topical tunes from their uniquely zany perspective.
The show is written and created by Nancy Holson, writer/director of the Off Broadway hit musical Bush Wars. It is co-directed and choreographed by her long time collaborator, Jay Falzone. Created in 1992, The News in Revue has performed continuously in various cities throughout the country and performs its twelfth summer in the Berkshires. It has won five Emmy Awards for its series of PBS specials, two of which were for Ms. Holson’s writing.
Special performances July 11th and August 22nd. Pre-show dinner available in the mansion at Cranwell. Wine, beer, coffee and dessert are served in the re-configured showroom with new elevated seating.
