The Colonial Theatre presents its Holiday Concert, featuring New England Jazz Ensemble’s "Ellington’s Nutcracker," with special guests Maureen O’Flynn and James Warwick. The Aldersgate BellRingers, Berkshire Children’s Chorus, Pittsfield High Chamber Orchestra, Charlie Tokarz and Wakarusa and Cabaret To Go with Sherri James Buxton, Jeff Cook and Laurie Schiff will also appear; and Berkshire resident Frank Newton will serveas the Master of Ceremonies.
The concert will include traditional Christmas music from England, Germany, and France, as well as a classical Kwanza song from Nigeria, a holiday story and children’s songs including a sing-a-long with all the performers and a few surprises.
The New England Jazz Ensemble has been performing since 1991 and has been named "Best Jazz Band" by the Hartford Advocate and by the Springfield Advocate. The 13-member jazz ensemble will bring their crowd-pleasing holiday favorite of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite adapted by Duke Ellington.
The Berkshire’s own world-renowned, Maureen O’Flynn, recently returning from her successful run of Micaela in Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera will perform holiday selections with The Colonial Theatre’s associate artistic director, James Warwick.
