Japanese calligraphy, known as Shodo, is rich in its history and form. In many cases, a single character can represent an entire concept, making it akin to a painting.

Eriko shows how this practice can connect body, mind, spirit, and brush to flow through the ink and paper. Learn how to gravitate between the practical aspect of calligraphy and its spiritual component, for instance, writing with a calligraphy brush, smelling the mind-calming scent of simple sumi ink, or concentrating your mind.

Introduction to Shodo
Step by Step instructions with "?" Love – Practice!!
Add sumi-e (optional)
Make your own final artwork
Sign the piece with your signature (Seisho)
Requirements and materials:
No previous experience or knowledge of Shodo is necessary.
All material and tools will be provided for workshop
Instructor Eriko Saxon Fujiyoshi was born and grew up in Yanagawa City, Japan. She began studying Shodo at the age of 3 under the shodo master Koho Takuma. Since then, she has devoted most of her life with Shodo (Japanese Brush calligraphy art). She taught many students in Japan and USA. She often does Shodo demonstration at many cultural events. Her calligraphy design are often bold and dynamic.
 
Due to the personal attention, class size is extremely limited.
