Second Story Repertory Announces 14th Season
Second Story Repertory has announced its 2012-2013 season.
The Mainstage Series opens with Cabaret, written by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Catch this production that tells the story of a night club in Berlin on the eve of the Third Reich from August 17-September 2. Next comes the 'girl loves ghoul, rock-and-roll, high school musical' Zombie Prom based on a story by John Dempsey and Hugh Murphy, with music by Dana P. Rowe and book and lyrics by John Dempsey. This production runs October 12-28. SSR's original adaptation of A Christmas Carol runs from December 7-23. The new year begins with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows and Jack Weinstock. This comedy filled with power, sex, ambition, and greed (just another day at the office!) runs from February 8-March 3. Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of friends struggling to make it in the big city and will premiere April 12-May 5. Finally, Moon Over Buffalo, in which fate has given a pair of thespians one more shot at starring roles, runs from June 14-30. The play is written by Ken Ludwig.
The Theater 4 Young Audiences Series will include Duck for President, based on the book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin, written by James E. Grote, and music by George Howe. Don't miss Duck as he goes from dealing with basic chores to running the entire country on September 14-30. The classic tale of the Frog and the Princess, The Frog Prince, comes to SSR November 9-25 with book and lyrics by Stan Gill and music by Cindy Bright. December 5, 12, and 22 brings A Christmas Carol Jr. to the stage. This original adaption is filled with excitement and music. Puss in Boots tells the story of the fast paced, trickster Puss, the cat. The show has music and lyrics by Kevin Miller and Clay Zambo and runs January 11-27. Next, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a classic tale of a young princess driven into the woods by her evil stepmother, opens March 15-30 with book and lyrics by Stan Gill and music by Cindy Wright. The season concludes with a little girl names Pinkalicious who can't stop eating pink cupcakes. Catch Pinkalicious: The Musical, with book and lyrics by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann and music and lyrics by John Gregor, May 17-June 2.
