Tony Award winner Rita Moreno will host San Francisco Public Television station KQED’s broadcast of four upcoming productions from the San Francisco Opera.

The broadcasts will feature productions of Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly featuring Patricia Racette in the title role (Thursday, August 26.); Mariusz Kwiecien in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Thursday, September 2); Angela Gheorghiu in Puccini’s La Rondine (Thursday, September 16), and Camille Saint-Saens’ Samson and Dalilah starring Olga Borodina and Clifton Forbis (Thursday, September 23). All productions feature the award winning San Francisco Opera Chorus and Orchestra.

Each airing will be enhanced with backstage interviews with singers, conductors, directors and other members of the artistic and creative team in order to offer greater perspective on the music and production of each opera to the audience.

In addition to the Tony, Moreno has won the Academy Award, the Emmy Award, and the Grammy Award.
