Lou Ferguson, Patrice Johnson Set for Athol Fugard’s Coming Home

Lou Ferguson, Patrice Johnson, Nyambi Nyambi, Antonio J. Dandridge and Elijah Felder have been cast in Athol Fugard’s Coming Home, the opening production in the Wilma Theatre’s 2009-2010 season, which is set to play October 14-November 15. Blanka Zizka will direct.

The play concerns a woman who left her cherished grandfather’s farm in South Africa to pursue her dream of becoming a cabaret singer in Cape Town, and years later, returns to her hometown with broken dreams, a painful secret, and the unflinching hope of building a new life for her young son.

The creative team will include Anne Patterson (scenic and costume design), Thom Weaver (lighting design), Andrea Sotzing (sound design), and South African composer Mogauwane Mahloele (original music).

The Wilma’s season will also include Becky Shaw, a Pulitzer Prize finalist written by Obie Award-winner Gina Gionfriddo, to be directed by Jiri Zizka; the world premiere of Language Rooms, by Egyptian-born playwright Yussef El Guindi, to be directed by Blanka Zizka; and the U.S. Premiere of Leaving by Vaclav Havel, to be directed by Jiri Zizka.
