World Premiere of Abe Koogler's Fulfillment Center Completes Manhattan Theatre Club Season
Deirdre O'Connell will lead the off-Broadway production.
Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that the eighth and final production of its 2016-17 season will be the world premiere of Fulfillment Center, an MTC commission written by Abe Koogler (Kill Floor). Performances will begin June 6, 2017, in advance of a June 20 opening at New York City Center - Stage II.
Directed by Daniel Aukin, the play will star Deirdre O'Connell (Hulu's The Path, MTC's By the Water) as a down-on-her-luck folk singer in the New Mexico desert who takes a job at a giant online retailer's shipping center. Her young manager struggles to connect with his girlfriend newly relocated from New York. And a drifter living at a local campground dangerously links them all.
The MTC Broadway season includes Simon Stephens' Heisenberg, directed by Mark Brokaw; the Broadway premiere of August Wilson's Jitney, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson; and the new Broadway production of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes, directed by Daniel Sullivan.
At MTC's off-Broadway home at New York City Center – Stage I, the season includes the New York premiere of Qui Nguyen's Vietgone, directed by May Adrales; the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's Linda, directed by Lynne Meadow; and the New York premiere of Martyna Majok's Cost of Living, directed by Jo Bonney. At the Studio at Stage II, Fulfillment Center joins the previously announced world premiere of Sell/Buy/Date, written and performed by Sarah Jones and directed by Carolyn Cantor.
Additional casting and creative team information for Fulfillment Center will be announced at a later date.
