Rehearsals have begun for Playwrights Horizons upcoming production of Craig Lucas's I Was Most Alive With You, set to begin performances August 31 and run through October 14.

The production, which will feature a shadow cast of deaf actors performing simultaneously in American Sign Language, is described as follows: "Ash has a blessed life, thankful every day for the gifts of his family, his addiction, and his son's Deafness. But on one fateful day, everything's taken from him. How can he see this unexpected test, that threatens to cast him and his loved ones into darkness, as the ultimate gift?"

I Was Most Alive With You will feature Marianna Bassham (Astrid), Tad Cooley (Farhad), Lisa Emery (Pleasan), Michael Gaston (Ash), Russell Harvard (Knox), Lois Smith (Carla), Gameela Wright (Mariama). The shadow cast will feature Beth Applebaum (Astrid), Kalen Feeney (Carla), Harold Foxx (Knox), Seth Gore (Ash), Amelia Hensley (Pleasant), Anthony Natale (Farhad), and Alexandria Wailes (Mariama). Tyne Rafaeli directs with Sabrina Dennison as director of America Sign Language.

The creative team for I Was Most Alive With You includes Arnulfo Maldonado (scenic design), David C. Woolard (costume design), Annie Wiegand (lighting design), Jane Shaw (sound design), and Alex Koch (projection design). Original music is by Daniel Kluger. Brett Anders is the production stage manager with Adele Nadine Traub as the assistant stage manager.
