First Look at Robert O'Hara's Dystopian Mankind
The world premiere play is now running at Playwrights Horizons.
Mankind, a new play written and directed by Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy, Barbecue), has released photos from its world premiere production at Playwrights Horizons. The show began previews on December 15 in advance of a January 8, 2018, opening and is set to run through January 28.
The cast features André De Shields (The Wiz), Bobby Moreno (Lazarus), Anson Mount (Marvel's Inhumans), Stephen Schnetzer (Oslo), Ariel Shafir (Orange Is the New Black), and David Ryan Smith (One Man, Two Guvnors).
In the play, "Mark (Mount) and Jason (Moreno) were keeping things casual until Jason got pregnant. But however unplanned the pregnancy was, nothing could be less expected than the chain of events it would set in motion. Robert O'Hara's audacious, hilarious allegory envisions an uncannily familiar future — one long after women have gone extinct from centuries of mistreatment — where man's capacity to f**k everything up soars to new heights."
