Paper Mill Playhouse Receives Two JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards
New Jersey's arts community recognizes the regional theater's educational contributions.
Millburn, New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse has been honored with two JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards. Now in its sixth year, the People's Choice Awards invites New Jersey arts patrons to vote for their favorite nonprofit arts groups through an online ballot.
The 14 categories voted upon encompass several artistic arenas including theater, visual arts, music, and dance. Paper Mill Playhouse, which was among this year's 71 nominated organizations, received the awards for Favorite Theater to See a Musical and Favorite Place to Take a Kids Arts Class.
"Paper Mill Playhouse is both humbled and honored to receive two People's Choice Awards," said Todd Schmidt, Paper Mill Playhouse's managing director. "These awards are a gift from the audiences and students we serve throughout the State of New Jersey."
"We are so thankful for the outpouring of support from [the] community that we serve," added Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill's producing artistic director. "We are overjoyed to receive an award for our Paper Mill Playhouse Theatre School, which has served the community and the state for more than 25 years. Programs like our Theatre School, Adult Theater Classes, classes for students with autism and other developmental disabilities and our Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory give students a supportive environment in which to study and explore elements of performance and learn essential life skills."
All recipients will receive their awards in a formal ceremony at The New Jersey Tourism Conference, scheduled to take place March 19-21 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
