Lookingglass Theatre and Berkeley Repertory Theatre's production of Treasure Island begins tonight.

Everything is about to change for Jim Hawkins, an innkeeper’s son, who has been working in his family’s inn all his life. When a mysterious blind man delivers the malignant Black Spot to an aging sea captain, Jim is thrown headfirst into the adventure of a lifetime. Armed with only his wits, he is up against a dastardly crew of cutthroat pirates and stormy seas. The larger-than-life Long John Silver and his crew of swashbuckling rogues provide Jim with endless thrills and dangers in a tale that is both hilarious and harrowing.

The show is based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson and is adapted and directed by Mary Zimmerman.
