Photos have been released of Lady, Be Good!, the 1924 musical by George and Ira Gershwin, Guy Bolton, and Fred Thompson, which opens the New York City Center Encores! season February 4-8.
The story follows a penniless brother and sister, Dick and Susie Trevor, who crash a garden party in hopes of some quick nourishment. They resolve to marry for money, but love quickly gets in the way.
The company is led by nine-time Tony winner Tommy Tune (Grand Hotel) as Jeff, Colin Donnell (Violet) as Jack Robinson, Danny Gardner (White Christmas) as Dick Trevor, Jeff Hiller (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Bertie Bassett, Erin Mackey (Sweeney Todd at Lincoln Center) as Shirley Vernon, Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones) as Susie Trevor, Richard Poe (All the Way) as Rufus Parke/Manuel Estrada, Jennifer Laura Thompson (Wicked) as Josephine Vanderwater, Kirsten Wyatt (Annie) as Daisy Parke, and Douglas Sills (Little Shop of Horrors) as J. Watterson Watkins.
Mark Brokaw directs the production, which is choreographed by Randy Skinner. Rob Fisher leads the Encores! orchestra.
