The new farce starts tonight in the Owen Theatre.
The Upstairs Concierge, presented by Goodman Theatre, begins its run tonight. Ella Elizondo believes she has found a great job in a Chicago hotel, the Hotelman Arms, a boutique hotel owned by Jeffrey and Dia Hotelman. After signing up to be the upstairs concierge, however, every moment of her life becomes dictated by the needs of her celebrity guests. The rag-tag staff, including bellhops Harvey and Kaz, don’t seem to help with keeping track of which guests are in which rooms, which guest is the biggest celebrity, or with supervising that the party-loving guests require.
The play is written by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by KJ Sanchez. It features Theo Allyn as Mark Merriman, Sandra Delgado as Shivery, Alejandra Escalante as Rebecca, José Antonio García as BB, Annie Henk as Dia, Tawny Newsome as Ella, Gabriel Ruiz as Harvey, John Stokvis as Kaz, and Travis Turner as Astros Guy.
The creative team includes Marcus Doshi (light design), Todd Rosenthal (set design), Rachel Anne Healy (costume design), Mikhail Fiksel (sound design), and Kimberley Osgood (stage manager).
Performances will run through April 26.
