The Flea Announces Cast for Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters

Casting has been announced for The Flea Theater’s world premiere production of Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters, written by Qui Nguyen. Robert Ross Parker will direct the production, which will run November 4-December 23, with an opening on November 17.

This comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games centers on
average Agnes, who is finally leaving her childhood home following the death of her totally weird sister, Tilly. When she stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, Agnes embarks on an action-packed adventure to discover more about her sister than she previously cared to know.

The production will feature members of the Flea’s resident acting ensemble The Bats. The cast will include Satomi Blair, Allison Buck, Ugo Chukwu, Jack Corcoran, Edgar Eguia, Cleo Grey, Raul Sigmund Julia, Annabel Lalonde, Bruce A. Lemon, Sean McIntyre, Megha Nabe, Margaret Odette, Brett Ashley Robinson, and Nicky Schmidlein.

The design team will include Nick Francone (set & lighting), Jessica Pabst (costumes), Shane Rettig (sound), David Valentine (puppets), Mike Chin (fight director), and Mimi Quillin (choreography).

In conjunction with the production, The Flea will also host the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired art exhibit Doomslangers.In it, artist Casey Jex Smith brings to life a D&D adventure to save the mythical city of Dingershare from the evil Lord Ricaek. The exhibit can be viewed in the Flea’s lobby one-hour before the show.

Nguyen and Parker are best known as the co-artistic directors of the Obie Award-winning Vampire Cowboys. They have collaborated on numerous plays together, including such works as Soul Samurai, Fight Girl Battle World, and Alice In Slasherland.
