Louis & Keely Live at the Sahara
Acclaimed Hollywood director/biographer Taylor Hackford will helm Louis & Keely Live at the Sahara, co-written by and starring Jake Broder and Vanessa Smith. The production will play the Geffen Playhouse, March 15-April 26, with an opening set for March 19.
The musical — which won the 2008 Ovation Award for Best Musical — follows the life and love of Vegas’ infamous onstage couple Louis Prima and Keely Smith. This production will feature a substantially revised script, including the addition of six new songs. Creators Broder and Smith will once again play Louis and Keely respectively, and will be joined by Nick Cagle and Erin Matthews, who play various other characters.
Hackford is best known for his film work, including An Officer and a Gentleman, Against All Odds, The Devil’s Advocate, La Bamba, Proof of Life, and Ray. This production will mark his stage directorial debut.
