Steven Glaudini will play John Adams, Tami Tappan Damiano will play Abigail Adams and Davis Gaines will play Richard Henry Lee in Musical Theatre West’s 1776, to run July 9-25 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. Nick DeGruccio will direct. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
1776, with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone, follows the events leading up to the drafting and signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Glaudini won an Ovation Award for his portrayal of John Adams in a 2004 production of the musical. Damiano’s credits include The Full Monty and Never Gonna Dance. Gaines performed the title role in The Phantom of the Opera more than 2,000 times during his runs on Broadway, in Los Angeles and in San Francisco.
