Courtney O’Connor directs the comedy from playwright Sarah Ruhl.
Stage Kiss begins performances tonight at Lyric Stage Company.
In Stage Kiss, two squabbling long-lost loves are cast as long-lost lovers, and quickly lose touch with reality in this comic, romantic, and revealing play-within-a-play. Playwright Sarah Ruhl and director Courtney O’Connor (Red Hot Patriot) take things onstage, backstage, and right out the stage door in this tale about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss and when actors share a real one.
The cast features Michael Hisamoto, Gillian Mackay-Smith, Craig Mathers, Will McGarrahan, Theresa Nguyen, Celeste Oliva, and Alexander Platt. Supporting the work of the cast is Matt Whiton (scenic design), Amanda Mujica (costume design), Chris Hudacs (lighting design), Arshan Gailus (sound design and original music). Nerys Powell serves as production stage manager and Bridget Anderson as assistant stage manager.
Performances continue through March 26.
