The Shakespeare Theatre Company will present its second production from the National Theatre of Scotland, David Greig’s The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart, at DuPont Circle’s Bier Baron Tavern from November 14-December 9.

This border ballad inspired play was created after the National Theatre of Scotland sent writer David Greig, director Wils Wilson, and composer Alasdair Macrae to an old pub in Kelso in the Scottish Borders for a weekend to do research. In a bar, late one night, an old man told a story he declared was ‘one hundred and ten percent true,’ about a woman who had come looking for songs and had never after been seen again.

That tale of love and the devil is the inspiration for The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart.
