Steppenwolf Theatre Company launches its 50th anniversary season with the Chicago premiere of Pulitzer finalist Rajiv Joseph’s (King James, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) family drama Mr. Wolf, directed by Tony nominee K. Todd Freeman (Downstate, Airline Highway), running September 11–November 2 in Steppenwolf’s Downstairs Theater.
Mr. Wolf will feature ensemble members Kate Arrington (East of Eden) as Hana, Tim Hopper (Fool for Love) as Mr. Wolf, Caroline Neff (Airline Highway) as Julie, and Namir Smallwood (Pass Over) as Michael, with Emilie Maureen Hanson as Theresa.
In the play, a miraculous reunion sets the stage for provocative conversations. Twelve years after precocious 15-year-old Theresa was stolen from her parents, she has been rescued and returned to a family that had nearly forsaken hope, a family she neither recognizes nor understands.
The creative team includes scenic designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Keith Parham, sound designer and original music composer Josh Schmidt, projection designer Rasean Davonté Johnson, voice coach Kate DeVore, and dramaturg Jonathan L. Green.
