The Tony-winning songwriters are set to receive the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Off-Broadway's York Theatre Company will honor Tony Award-winning collaborators Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty with the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre at the 23rd Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala on Monday, November 24, at Park Avenue’s Racquet & Tennis Club.
The evening, hosted by Liz Callaway, will be directed by Stafford Arima and feature performances by Ahrens and Flaherty musical veterans Andy Karl and Margo Seibert (Rocky), Marin Mazzie, Kenita Miller, Quentin Earl Darrington, and Bobby Steggert (Ragtime), and many others. Frequent Ahrens and Flaherty collaborator Terrence McNally will also be on hand as a special guest. Daniel Green serves as musical director.
Ahrens and Flaherty are the writers of the musicals Once on This Island, Rocky, Ragtime, My Favorite Year, Lucky Stiff, A Man of No Importance, Dessa Rose, The Glorious Ones, and Little Dancer.
