Broadway Design Exchange’s showcase of the legendary illustrator runs through November 19.
An online exhibition of the work of legendary Broadway artist Sam Norkin (1917-2011) begins today at Broadway Design Exchange and runs through November 19.
Titled "Sam Norkin Revisited," the show commemorates the work of an artist most famously known for his caricatures of actors and companies at opening nights. Among his subjects were Ethel Merman in the original production of Gypsy, Mary Martin in The Sound of Music, Liza Minnelli in Flora the Red Menace, and Kirk Douglas in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. All of these, and many others, will be part of the online show.
His illustrations regularly appeared from 1940 to 1956 in the New York Herald Tribune, and subsequently in the New York Daily News through 1982.
