OFC Creations Theatre has announced the musicals for its 2026-27 Broadway in Brighton Series, back for a fourth year.
This season includes the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray! (September 24-October 11), A Christmas Story: The Musical (December 17-January 3, 2027), the first production of Kiss of the Spider Woman (January 28, 2027-February 14, 2027) in Rochester in over 10 years, the New York premiere of The Witches of Eastwick (March 4-21, 2027), the first licensed North American production of The Osmonds: A New Musical (April 8-25, 2027), and Miss Saigon (May 6-23, 2027). There are also two add-ons: Jim Henson’s Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas (November 25, 2027-December 12, 2027) and Bun in the Oven: Contractions with the Calamari Sisters (October 15-18, 2027).
Based on the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters, Hairspray! features a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. This production is directed by Eric Vaughn Johnson and choreographed by Jasón N. Wells.
A Christmas Story features a book by Joseph Robinette and music and lyrics by Emmy-, Grammy-, Oscar-, and Tony-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, based on the motion picture written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark. Eric Vaughn Johnson directs.
Kiss of the Spider Woman, written by Terrence McNally (book), John Kander (music), and Fred Ebb (lyrics) is set in an Argentinian prison, where Molina, a romantic dreamer, escapes the brutality of his confinement through dazzling dreams of his favorite films. This production is choreographed by Courtney Arango.
Based on the 1987 cult-classic film and the novel by John Updike, The Witches of Eastwick: The Musical is a comedic, over-the-top romp by John Dempsey (book and lyrics) and Dana P. Rowe (music). This regional premiere is directed by Eric Vaughn Johnson.
The Osmonds: A New Musical tells the official, true story of five brothers from Utah who were pushed into the spotlight as children and features their hits including “Down by the Lazy River,” “Crazy Horses,” “Yo-Yo,” and “Puppy Love.”
Miss Saigon—with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. and Alain Boubil, adapted from the original French lyrics by Alain Boubil, and additional material by Richard Maltby Jr.—returns to Rochester for the first time in eight years. Under the direction of Eric Quang Gelb and Eric Vaughn Johnson, the production stars Jade Duong as Kim and Xavier McKinnon as Chris.
