Denver Center Theatre Company will present Appoggiatura on June 14 at 7:30pm. Set in Italy, Appoggiatura is described as “a play about an American family finding itself by completely losing itself.” It is written by James Still and directed by Risa Brainin.
South Coast Repertory will present Over the Waves the following day on June 15 at 3:00pm. Written by Noah Haidle and directed by Marc Masterson, the play follows two couples who have been in a 1920s-style dance marathon for almost 14 years, offering an allegory about learning to love one’s fate.
Primary Stages will be the last to present its new play, Bronx Bombers, on June 15 at 7:30pm. Both written and directed by Eric Simonson and conceived by Fran Kirmser, the play follows Yogi Berra and the New York Yankees, telling a generational story about America’s favorite pastime.
“I am thrilled to have Denver Center Theatre Company, Primary Stages, and South Coast Repertory participate in this year’s New Works Festival,” says Andrew Leynse, artistic director of The Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival. “Now in its 16th year, the festival continues to be a major force in supporting the development of new works.”
