The official opening date of Mimi le Duck has been postponed from October 31 to November 6 so that a song can be added for co-star Eartha Kitt and additional changes to the show can be made.
The musical tells the tale of Miriam (Annie Golden), a discontented Mormon housewife from Ketchum, Idaho who packs her bags and moves to Paris, leaving behind her husband and her successful career as a painter of duck canvases for the QVC Network. In addition to Golden and Kitt, the production features Tom Aldredge, Candy Buckley, Robert DuSold, Allen Fitzpatrick, Ken Jennings, and Marcus Neville. It is directed by Thomas Caruso, with musical staging by Matt West.
The show has music by Brian Feinstein, book and lyrics by Diana Hansen-Young. The design team is headed by John Arnone (sets), Ann Hould-Ward (costumes), David Lander (lighting), Tony Smolenski IV and Walter Trarbarch (sound), and Chris Fenwick (musical supervision and orchestrations). Mimi le Duck had its world premiere at the Adirondack Theatre Festival and its New York premiere at the Fringe Festival, both in the summer of 2004.
