Casting has been announced for the world premiere production of the new musical The Nutty Professor, July 24-August 19
at the James K. Polk Theater at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
The show, which is based on the film of the same name, features a score by Marvin Hamlisch, a book and lyrics by Rupert Holmes, and direction by Jerry Lewis.
As previously reported, Michael Andrew stars as the socially awkward Professor Julius Kelp, who concocts a potion which turns him into the suave Buddy Love. He will be joined by Klea Blackhurst (Miss Lemon), Mark Jacoby (Dr. Warfield/Murry/Maury/Bartender), Marissa McGowan (Stella Purdy), and Jamie Ross (Harrington Winslow).
The ensemble includes Alex David, Meghan Glogower, Blair Goldberg, Autumn Guzzardi, Sarah Marie Jenkins, Allison Little, Charles MacEachern, Lindsay Moore, Ronnie Nelson, Patrick O’Neill, Dominique Plaisant, Carly Blake Sebouhian, Jason Sparks, Christopher Spaulding, Kristopher Thompson-Bolden, and Ryan Worsing.
The Nutty Professor will feature musical direction by Todd Ellison, choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, scenic design by David Gallo, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, and dance arrangements by David Dabbon.
