Hargitay will take over for Daniel Radcliffe in this acclaimed solo play by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe.

Mariska Hargitay will make her Broadway debut this May in Every Brilliant Thing, Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe’s solo play about finding the beauty in every day life.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin and Duncan Macmillan, Every Brilliant Thing has been running at the Hudson Theatre since February 21, starring Daniel Radcliffe. Radcliffe ends his run on May 24; Hargitay takes the stage May 26-June 28.
Since 1999, Hargitay has played Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, winning an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance. Now in her 27th year, Hargitay’s tenure marks the longest-running portrayal of a single character in American primetime drama history.
Every Brilliant Thing is the story of a person who attempts to ease their mother’s depression by creating a list of all the things in the world that make life worth living. First presented in 2014 by Paines Plough, the work made its off-Broadway debut that year at the Barrow Street Theatre, performed by Donahoe. Donahoe also stars in the 2016 HBO film adaptation. This Broadway engagement follows a West End run at the @SohoPlace theater.
The creative team includes scenic and costume designer Vicki Mortimer, lighting designer Jack Knowles, and sound designer Tom Gibbons.
Of the Broadway production with Radclife, our critic said it “shines a genuinely illuminating light on a dark corner of mental health that many will feel uncomfortable exploring.”
