Ma-Yi Theater Company Announces 2018-19 Season

The season will include a coproduction with the Bushwick Starr and two plays in repertory by Orlando Pabotoy and Lloyd Suh.

Ma-Yi Theater Company, which is devoted to developing and producing the work of Asian-American playwrights, has announced its 2018-19 season.

The season will open with two plays in repertory at Theatre Row: Orlando Pabotoy's Sesar (October 20-November 1), directed by Richard Feldman; and Lloyd Suh's The Chinese Lady (November 7-18), a coproduction with Barrington Stage Company directed by the company's producing artistic director, Ralph B. Peña. The Chinese Lady will star Shannon Tyo (Bright Half Life) and Daniel K. Isaac (Showtime's Billions). Casting for Sesar will be announced later.

The next show of the season will be a previously announced coproduction with the Bushwick Starr, Kristine Haruna Lee's Suicide Forest, directed by Aya Ogawa. Finally, the season will close with Sam Chanse's Fruiting Bodies, directed by Shelly Butler, playing at Theatre Row April 5-May 9, 2019.
