Colman Domingo and Forrest McClendon, the Tony Award-nominated stars of the original Broadway production of The Scottsboro Boys, will star in the show’s upcoming London premiere, set to play the Young Vic October 18-November 23. Susan Stroman, who helmed and choreographed the Broadway staging of the John Kander, Fred Ebb, and David Thompson musical, will repeat her work for the show’s London outing. The Young Vic and Catherine Schreiber serve as producers.

Joining Domingo and McClendon, who once again take on the roles of Mr. Bones and Mr. Tambo, will be Broadway cast members Christian Dante-White (as Charles Weems) and Clinton Roane (as Roy Wright). The company will also feature Olivier Award winner and Game of Thrones cast member Julian Glover as The Interlocutor, Dawn Hope (Coronation Street) as The Lady, Adebayo Bolaji as Clarence Norris, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton as Olen Montgomery, Carl Spencer as Andy Wright, as well as Martin Bishop, Susan Reynolds, and Jordan Shaw. Additional casting will be announced in the future.

One of the final musical collaborations of legendary songwriters Kander and Ebb, The Scottsboro Boys tells the story of nine young black men who are falsely accused of rape by two white women and are subsequently convicted of the crime. Seven-years work of trials and appeals ensued, as did the passage of pivotal supreme court rulings that had a powerful effect on American history and the subsequent civil rights movement.

The Broadway production of The Scottsboro Boys ran at the Lyceum Theatre in 2010 and was nominated for twelve Tony Awards. The musical originated off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre.
