Lincoln Center Theater announced the complete cast and creative team for The Whoopi Monologues, a reimagining of Whoopi Goldberg’s 1984 self-titled Broadway play. Performances start on July 7, with an official opening night set for July 13, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.
Written by Whoopi Goldberg and directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Whitney White, The Whoopi Monologues will star Emmy Award nominee Dominique Fishback, Tony Award winner Kecia Lewis, and Ghosts‘s Danielle Pinnock, joining the previously announced Kerry Washington and Kara Young. Kai Heath, Denise Manning, and Pavar Snipe round out the cast as understudies.
The creative team includes set designers Adam Rigg and Anton Volovsek of Studio Bent, costume designer Qween Jean, lighting designer Cha See, sound designer Fan Zhang, video designer Hana S. Kim, and hair and wig designer Nikiya Mathis.
Young will play Fontaine, Washington is Surfer Girl, Pinnock is Jamaican Lady, Lewis will be Lurleen, and Fishback takes on the role of Blonde Girl.
