Kathleen Turner to Star in A Christmas Carol: A Radio Drama

The two-time Tony nominee will take on the classic role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Golden Globe Award winner and two-time Tony nominee Kathleen Turner will lend her voice to the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the radio drama adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, returning to the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC and WQXR.

WNYC and WQXR hosts and on-air talent will round out the cast, including WQXR’s Jeff Spurgeon, Terrance McKnight, and Annie Bergen, along with WNYC’s John Schaefer, Jami Floyd, Jessica Gould, Brooke Gladstone, Richard Hake, Julian Fleisher, and Sean Rameswaram. Ira Flatow (host of NPR’s Science Friday) and 11-year-old actor Payton Lusk, taking on the role of Tiny Tim, will also participate.

Fred Newman of A Prairie Home Companion will also return to the radio production with his signature sound effects. Composer and pianist John Forster and electro-acoustic violist and composer Martha Mooke provide musical accompaniment. Elliott Forrest directs.

Performances will take place Tuesday, December 8, at 5pm and 7pm. Live video webcasts of each performance, and video streaming on demand are available here. A Christmas Carol will also air on WNYC 93.9FM and NJPR stations on December 19 at noon and on WNYC 93.9FM on December 24 at 8pm.
