According to reports by Variety, Jessica Chastain is in talks to costar with her fellow Broadway alum Jake Gyllenhaal in Ubisoft Pictures’ adaptation of its hit video game The Division. Gyllenhaal is producing the film with Ubisoft’s Gerard Guillemot.
Released worldwide on March 8, 2016, the video game is set in a near-future New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. The player, who is an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, referred to as "The Division," is tasked with helping the Division rebuild its operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak, and combating criminal activity in its wake.
Chastain made her Broadway debut in the 2012 revival of The Heiress. Gyllenhaal made his debut in Nick Payne's two-person play Constellations opposite Ruth Wilson in 2015. He is set to return to Broadway in March 2017 to star in the revival of Lanford Wilson's Burn This. He will also lead the cast of the New York City Center concert production of Sunday in the Park With George this coming October opposite Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford.
