The annual concert honored Sarah Paulson and Fran Weissler.
MCC Theater’s annual Miscast gala was held on Monday, March 30, at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The event features Broadway performers seizing their chance to sing songs from roles they would be completely wrong for.
This year’s gala honored Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated stage and screen actress Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story), who appeared in MCC’s productions of Still Life and Colder Than Here, and legendary theatrical producer Fran Weissler (Chicago). Actor and Daily Show regular Aasif Mandvi hosted.
The lineup of performers included Emmy winner Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), Tony Award winners Laura Benanti (Gypsy, New York Spring Spectacular), and Jessie Mueller (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Tony Award nominees Annaleigh Ashford (You Can’t Take It With You), Christopher Fitzgerald (Chicago), Joshua Henry (Violet), Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Andrew Rannells (The New Normal), Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), and Betsy Wolfe (The Last Five Years).
