Jason Wells has won the 2010 M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award, given out by The American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA), for his play Perfect Mendacity. The award will be presented in a ceremony on March 27 at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville, KY.

Perfect Mendacity examines the nature of self-deception as a business executive seeks to avoid being implicated in the leak of a sensitive memo during a lie detector investigation. The play premiered in May 2009 at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, directed by Michael Donald Edwards.

Wells’ other work includes the play Men of Tortuga and the screenplay From Missouri. He is also a Chicago-based actor with numerous stage, film, and television credits.

The Osborn Award is designed to recognize the work of an author who has not yet achieved national stature, but whose work has been staged widely in regional theaters or received other major national awards.
