Grammy Nominations for Hell's Kitchen, Merrily We Roll Along, The Outsiders, and More

The Notebook, Suffs, and The Wiz also received Grammy nominations, along with other theater artists.

Many Tony-nominated shows can now add Grammy to their list of nominations. In addition to the nominations for Best Musical Theater Album, theater artists were also nominated in the Best Opera Recording and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album categories.

The Best Musical Theater Album is for albums containing 51% playing time of new recordings. The award goes to the principal vocalist(s), and the album producer(s) of 50% or more playing time of the album, and the lyricist(s) and composer(s) if any previous recording of the score has not been nominated in this category.

The nomination for the original Broadway cast album of Hell’s Kitchen, with music and lyrics by Alicia Keys, includes principal vocalists Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, Tony winner Kecia Lewis, and Tony winner Maleah Joi Moon and producers Adam Blackstone, Alicia Keys, and Tom Kitt.

For the new Broadway cast recording of the revival of Merrily We Roll Along, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the award would go to principal vocalists and Tony winners Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez, and Daniel Radcliffe and producers David Caddick, Joel Fram, Maria Friedman, and David Lai.

The nomination for the original Broadway cast album of The Notebook includes producers John Clancy, Carmel Dean, Kurt Deutsch, Derik Lee, Kevin McCollum, and Ingrid Michaelson, who is also the composer and lyricist.

The nomination for the original Broadway cast album of Best Musical Tony winner The Outsiders includes principal vocalists Joshua Boone, Brent Comer, Brody Grant, and Sky Lakota-Lynch, producers Zach Chance, Jonathan Clay, Matt Hinkley, Justin Levine, and Lawrence Manchester, and composer-lyricists Zach Chance, Jonathan Clay, and Justin Levine.

The original Broadway cast recording of Suffs has a nomination including producers Andrea Grody, Dean Sharenow, and Shaina Taub, who is also nominated as composer and lyricist.

The nomination for the cast recording for the 2024 revival of The Wiz, with music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls, includes principal vocalists Wayne Brady, Deborah Cox, Nichelle Lewis, and Avery Wilson and producers Joseph Joubert, Allen René Louis, and Lawrence Manchester.

Best Opera Recording is awarded to the conductor, album producer(s), and principal soloists, and to the composer and librettist (if applicable) of a world premiere opera recording only. The nomination for Kevin Puts’s The Hours includes conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, conductor; principal soloists Joyce DiDonato, Renée Fleming, and Tony winner Kelli O’Hara; and producer David Frost.

Aaron Lazar (The Light in the Piazza, A Little Night Music) was nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his album Impossible Dream.

The winners will be announced on February 2.
