A one-night-only dramatic reading of Brian Friel’s Faith Healer will be held on Monday, March 10 at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan; it will be directed by Brian Friel’s daughter, Judy.
Faith Healer, which ran for 20 performances on Broadway in April 1979, explores the nature of truth through its three characters’ recollections of a return to Ireland and the performance of miracles. The original production starred Donal Donnelly, Clarissa Kaye, and James Mason, under the direction of José Quintero. Brian Friel’s other plays include Translations, Philadelphia, Here I Come!, Wonderful Tennessee, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Freedom of the City, The Mundy Scheme, Lovers, and The Loves of Cass McGuire.
The March 10 reading will feature Philip Bosco (Copenhagen, The Heiress, Moon Over Buffalo), Blair Brown (Copenhagen, James Joyce’s The Dead), and Jim Dale (currently co-starring in Comedians Off-Broadway). The 92nd Street Y is located at Lexington Avenue and 92nd Street. For tickets and/or additional information, visit the box office or call 212-415-5500.
