Performances begin tonight at The Strand Theatre.
Fiddlehead Theatre Company’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid starts its run this evening at Strand Theatre.
Based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson story and the animated film, the musical tells the story of Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter. Ariel wants nothing more than to see the world as it is on land. After saving Prince Eric from a shipwreck she only becomes more determined to live on land. In a bargain with the evil sea witch, Ursula, Ariel trades her voice for legs. When the deal starts to go wrong, Ariel and her friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab must restore order to the ocean’s depths.
With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glen Slater and Howard Ashman, and a book by Dough Wright, the show stars Jesse Lynn Harte as Ariel.
"I am beyond excited to have the chance to play my dream role of Ariel in The Little Mermaid with such a respected and welcoming company while still continuing my education at Emerson," said Harte. "Fiddlehead is bringing beautiful theatre to the Boston community, and I am truly honored to help communicate the love the cast and production team have for the arts. I can't wait to present this work."
Performances will run through December 6.
