MCC Theater has announced the cast for Birthright by Tony winner Jonathan Spector, Eureka Day playwright. Directed by Teddy Bergman, Birthright runs June 5-July 12, with opening night scheduled for June 24.
The cast features Hale Appleman, Younger‘s Molly Bernard, Tony nominee Eli Gelb, Broad City‘s Abbi Jacobson, Tony nominee Liz Larsen, Nate Mann, and Succession‘s Zoë Winters.
The play is a portrait of friendship across time: What begins as a reunion among six young friends after a Birthright trip to Israel in 2006 becomes, over the span of 18 years, an exploration of identity, fracturing communities, and what it means to belong.
The creative team includes scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Clint Ramos, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Lee Kinney, projection designer David Bengali, wig, hair, and makeup designers Robert Pickens and Katie Gell, voice and text coach Gigi Buffington, intimacy coordinator Alicia Rodis, props supervisor Samantha Shoffner, and DEI consultant Nicole Johnson/Harriet Tubman Effect.
