Drama Desk-Nominated Solo Play Small to Have Return NYC Engagement

Following its 2023 production at 59E59 Theatre, the Penguin Rep Theatre production of Small, written by and starring Robert Montano, will have a limited engagement at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center.

Directed by Jessi D. Hill, the play will run May 20-July 25, with an official opening on May 28.

Small, which was nominated for 2024 Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Solo Performance, traces Montano’s journey from childhood dreams of becoming a jockey to ultimately finding his voice and identity as a dancer on Broadway.

The production features scenic design by Christopher and Justin Swader, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, sound design by Brian Ronan, and properties by Buffy Cardoza.

Small is not a production of Signature Theatre.
