The American Shakespeare Center (ASC), based at the Blackfriars Playhouse, has announced the three plays that it will present as part of its 2010-2011 Restless Ecstasy Tour. Jim Warren will direct the three productions, which will be As You Like It, Macbeth, and Measure for Measure.
The tour will perform at venues throughout the United States from September through November of this year and then again from January through March, 2011. In April, the touring company will return the ASC’s home in Staunton, VA to present the spring season at the Playhouse through the middle of June. Specific tour cities and dates, along with casting, will be announced at a later date.
In addition, the company has announced the two productions that it will present at the Blackfriars Playhouse in December during the tour’s hiatus in December. During this period, ASC will offer not only an original adaptation of A Christmas Carol, but also David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries and Ginna Hoben’s one-woman show, The Twelve Dates of Christmas.
