Adam Jacobs, Jonathan Freeman, and more will stick with the production into 2016.
Disney's Tony-winning Broadway musical Aladdin has announced that original stars Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), Tony Award nominee Jonathan Freeman (Jafar), Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart (Genie), and Courtney Reed (Jasmine) have extended their contracts with the production through February 21, 2016. The four actors have been with the company since the show's premiere at Seattle’s Fifth Avenue Theatre in summer 2011, which opened at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014.
Featuring a score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice with songs such as "Friend Like Me" and the Academy Award-winning "A Whole New World," Aladdin features a new book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer).
The creative team includes Bob Crowley (scenic design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Ken Travis (sound design), Jim Steinmeyer (illusions), Josh Marquette (hair design), Michael Kosarin (music supervisor/vocal and incidental arrangements), Danny Troob (orchestrator), and Glen Kelly (dance music arranger).
