Academy Award-Winning Film Happy Feet Is Being Developed Into a Stage Musical

Tony winner Michael Arden is attached as director and Douglas Lyons will write the book.

The Academy Award-winning animated Warner Bros. motion picture Happy Feet, directed by George Miller, is being developed into a Broadway-bound musical, announced Tony-winning producer Dori Berinstein.

Two-time Tony Award-winning director Michael Arden will helm the production, with Douglas Lyons writing the book. The score will be made up of songs from the motion picture alongside other chart-topping songs. The choreography team is tap dancer and choreographer Ayodele Casel and the duo Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher “Cree” Grant.

Originally released in 2006, Happy Feet is a dance-driven story about Mumble, whose extraordinary dancing sets him apart and sends him on a life-changing adventure.

The design team includes Tony Award-winning set designer Dane Laffrey, Tony Award-winning costume designer Susan Hilferty, Tony Award-winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, puppet designer Basil Twist, orchestrator/ co-arranger Kenny Seymour, and music supervisor/co-arranger Jackson Teeley.

Dates for future productions and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.
